This is my first trip of the 2010 gold season to check the condition of the rivers. They are pretty high, fast and cold this late in the year.

Thanks, it was nice going out for the first time this year. I have a feeling it’s going to be a while before the water drops and warms up.

@fortytwo09er i hear yah ,,i was thinking the same thing.. the last time i saw the river that high at this point of time was about 6 years ago..but on the flip side it made better for prospecting and other forms of entertainment like camping swimming and so on.

Did you get any gold? Even a couple of small flakes would be cool. I hear you about the water. I went to the Feather about a month ago and froze my feet off. I did find some small flakes, but only panned for about 3.5 hrs. Good video, and hope your new mini slucie is going good.Jess

Hey Jess… no, didn’t even get a flake
I didn’t think I would though, only cleaned out one crevice and a few shovel fulls from another area. It was cool though just to see that the river is still high and that I can still have first pickins’ as soon as it starts to drop. Well maybe but at least I’ll be going out and trying early this year.
I’m hoping to get the sluice done before my next trip and try it out.
