I don't know if Young's salary was a factor or not. I think they want to keep him around. I think it had more to do with believing Andrus is the shortstop of the future, has better range and will be capable of making the spectacular play. If they plan to move Davis to 1B and Blalock to DH, they needed a third baseman. They would like to see Andrus in there this season, hoping that things fall into place to contend in 2010. I don't think Yound will be traded, it will be interesting to see how things pan out. I think a better solution is to move Young back to 2B, if Andrus is ready to move in, then move Kinsler to 3b or LF. An Andrus/Kinsler dp combo would rack up the Es.
