Personally, I’d go with the metal detector. I doubt you can get much of a telescope for $100, even if you could, a metal detector is more hands on fun and could be profitable.
I had a telescope and I had a hard time seeing much with it. I was really disappointed. I think you have to spend a lot of $ to get a good one. I would go with the metal detector. I’ve been wanting one myself.
I would buy the metal detector, I found my first gold nugget with one, it was not big but without the detector I would not have found it,I do a lot of prospecting in BC Canada, and I find it to be a lot of fun, and you get a lot of exercise. Plus you get to enjoy the great outdoors more.
Put your money toward a telescope. It will be useful. You can use it to stargaze!
