I don’t mean going to the cinema or anything along those lines. I’d like to organise something unexpected and a bit more personal. I was thinking like a massive treasure hunt maybe…

Hi, I’m hosting an astronomy event where I have people gaze at the stars and I talk about interesting astronomy facts (black holes, etc.). Aside from that, I’d like there to be an activity that everybody can be in. Like some sort of treasure hunt/trivia thing (but not just a regular trivia about what they learned). If you know of any/thin of any that would be great and appreciated!

I’ve checked out a few of the places that I’ve seen on The Travel Channel’s Cash and Treasure. It seems that after being featured on the show, the prices for such activity at these locations has gone up (doubled from $50 to $100 at one place.)
I know that there must be many more of the native gem and rockhounding areas available to the public than I have heard about. But, I don’t know where to find them. I thought that with so many people reading this question, that I’d surely find out about many less known places. So, please do let me know if you’ve been gem hunting, where and what you found and if you had a good experience.
I’d particularly like to know of any public native gem searching areas in the South East.
Thanks for you help.

I just got my first babysitting job for someone that I don’t know (I’ve babysat for family, but they were there the whole time). I only watch the kids on every other Friday and Saturday. The kids are 3 boys of the ages 3, 5, and 8. I already have some games that we could play, but I would like input on some other activities that we could do. Here’s the few that I could come up with:
-Pretend to be pirates
-Pretend to be spies
-Pretend that we’re on a treasure hunt because we just found a treasure map (I’m going to draw a few before going over there, then plant them around the house and claim that I found them hidden)
-Create a whole new, imaginary, world like in Bridge to Terabithia (I will also bring the movie over, but I’m afraid it will lose their attention since the beginning is a little slow)
-I’ll ask them what THEY want to do, as long as it’s appropriate (no wrecking the house)
-Watch a movie of their choice or a TV program of their choice
-Video games (their choice)
