Drifting in the back of my mind is a long ago read story that involved a little boy in a old city with wall, guard and king. I seem to remember that the boy got caught doing something anoying and wound up in a wager that he could steal something from the city without the guard being able to catch him. I can’t remember whether he was hauling bricks in a wagon or clocks. He wins the wager by pulling the obvious. He’s not stealing bricks (or clocks?), but wagons. Anyway, I’d like to reread this childhood treasure, but can’t remember title, author or? Probably from pre-1975 at a guess.
