Klondike: Quest For Gold Episode 1
As seen on the History Channel comes a new “living history” series that follows 4 men and 1 woman who retrace the historic route taken during the 1897 Klondike Gold Rush. Their amazing 10-week journey takes them along the infamous Chilkoot Trail, and to the gold fields near Dawson City. Our modern-day prospectors complete this journey with only the clothes, tools and resources of the era and carrying 3000 lbs. of provisions, giving them a true sense of the challenges faced in 1897.
Episode one features a brief history of the Klondike Gold Rush in 1897-98 and an introduction to our team: Joe, Andria, Rick, Sebastien and Dave. The team arrives in Skagway, Alaska and makes the appropriate final preparations to depart from the trailhead at the historic town site of Dyea. They begin their arduous journey on the Chilkoot Trail and despite the help of Aboriginal packers, quickly realize it is much more difficult than they imagined. Tension arises between Andria and the men when she announces that they may not have enough food to last them through the journey.
