Why do metals emit discrete spectra as single atoms but continuous as an object? Uncertainty principle?Q.mech?

I am interested to know why the electron levels broaden into one when the atoms combine in sufficient numbers to become a black body, thus allowing radiation of all frequencies to be absorbed / emitted.
Actually I think that there are still discrete levels but at < 10 E-34J apart, which we cannot detect.
What is the quantum mechanical explanation for this?
How does the uncertainty principle account for it?

Metal detectors? Best ones for coins? Gold? Deepest?

I’ve done this for a while but am ready for an upgrade. I specifically like finding coins and other metals from the old homesites I visit but I need it to go more than 4″ accurately without spending $1000. My husband says (legand has it) his parents talked about someone burying gold on our land many decades ago. (Family land for over 110 years)

Would an iron magnet be detected by a metal detector?

From what I know of how metal detectors work, they are relying on the magnetizeable property of metals. Wouldn’t an iron magnet not change intensity or polarity and thus not be detectable? Also, what about realistic situations where the metal detector is passing over the iron magnet. The intensity of the magnet would appear to change to the detector as it passes over, and thus would in essence cause the detectors shielded thingy to oscillate, but it would be less than 1 hertz so I don’t think it would be detectable from that aspect. Anyways thx for ur time.

Dye-penetrant testing/ DP Test/ Non destructive test material/Detecting cracks in metal part?

Dye-penetrant testing, detecting cracks in metals, non-destructive test material/DP test?
I would request to be known what is non-destructive test material, it is also called DP test. Is Dye penetrant testing the non destructive test material and why is it called non destructive test material? Are there any alternatives to the dye penetrant testing? What is the advantages of dye penetrant testing over other testing for detecting cracks in metal parts in in every major and minor industry? Is the production of dye penetrant material a profitable business. Kindly also let me know how many kinds of these dye testing material are there? kindly let me know the phases of dye penetrant testing. Kindly guide me as I want to puchase a plant producing this dye penetrant testing material. Thanks.
