Finding Main Ideas: Read each adaptation and the lettered statements below. Select which statement best describes the main idea. (Each question is worth one point)
21. The Spanish claim to the Oregon country dated back to an agreement between Spain and Portugal in 1494. Spain gave up its claim in 1819 in a treaty that ceded Florida to the United States. Russia based its claims to the area on the explorations of a Dane in the service of Russia and on the fact that it had missions and trading posts in the Pacific Northwest. Great Britain’s claim to the Oregon country centered on voyages by two English explorers and on a fur trade with the Indians. The United States also claimed the area, citing the discovery of the Columbia River by a Boston sea captain and a fur trade that developed in the early 1800s. Spain held the earliest claim to the Oregon country. Claims by the United States and European countries were based on the fur trade.
The United States joined several European nations in making claims to the Oregon country.

22. At the center of each Spanish mission in the West was the church, often a beautiful structure of stone or adobe. Surrounding the church were living quarters for the priests and workshops in which Indians learned weaving, silver working, blacksmithing, and other crafts. Around the mission buildings were farming areas where the priests and Indians grew grain, grapes, and other crops and at times raised cattle. Indians who had won the confidence of the priests sometimes had farms of their own near the missions. A mission was almost like a small village that supplied many of its own needs. Spanish missions contained beautiful churches and farms.

Athiests and Christians: What do you think about the dogma of psychiatry?

Now let me tell you first off I am NOT a scientologist, I am a Neo-Pagan and a consumer/psychiatric survivor who would really like to share her story and the abuses psychiatry has preformed on men and women throughout the years. It is a means of social control, and the death of many who look to it for help and healing.

Did you know that being gay was a mental illness up until 1973 when psychiatrists “voted” to have it taken out of the DSM-V?

Did you know that many people are being forcibly drugged and electro-shocked against their wills for their beliefs?

Did you know that being african american and a slave who ran away from inhumane conditions was coined as a psychiatric disease called drapetomania. Meaning runaway (slave) madness. This was coined by Samuel A. Cartwright in 1851.

All of you could be labeled as metally ill if you went into a psychiartist’s office today, there are so many illnesses every person who steps into a psychiatists office can be pinned down with a label within 10 minutes of conversation.

My story is pretty much I am a Neo-Pagan ad I believe my rights were heavily ignored when I made a visit to the hospital for issues of abuse. ( my father had sexually abused me and I wanted to deal with it ) well, the psychiatrist pretty much told me outright that I was had a thought disorder and it never happened. Isn’t this outrageous?

They went through the standard questions, and asked if I believe in psychic powers, I replied with no, but I do believe everyone has a certain intuition or sixth sense.

They asked me if I believe I can display telepathy, again my answer was no, but I did explain I believe when two people get close enough to eachother they can pick up on eachothers thoughts, such as twins do.

So naturally they wrote down that I believe I am psychic and that I believe I can send telepathic thoughts.

I was committed, and still am to this day, and am being forced to take anti-psychotics.

There are many a book out there on how to increase your psychic development.
And there are plenty of studies on the possibility of telepathy.

I told them I was interested in parapsychology and ghost hunting as well.

And they wrote down the patient believes she has a “ghost recorder”, yes, I was trying to capture EVP’s and had caught some really good ones. These people do not watch ghost adventures I’m geussing.

What do you think? Do you think I’m nuts, or do you think my rights and beliefs have been violated?

I really think it’s messed up because there was a guy who overdosed on heroin and threw himself down a flight of stairs, was in a full body cast, and they didn’t commit him, just sent him home.
There was another guy who slit his own neck over his ex wife, they sent him home too.

But I have alternative beliefs, so I’m the one who needs anti-psychotics?

What do you guys think of psychiatry?

All the answers to Volvo Treasure Hunt, locations, hints, coordinates, key words.?

Ok everyone, Im all for helping your fellow man (or woman) in solving puzzles, and giving hints, but NOT in this volvo treasure hunt. I know most are just being generally helpful… However, this is a competition, a race, so please stop putting the answers out there for everyone.

If you give away the answers to everyone then those that cant figure out the key word or puzzle will never be eliminated. The designers of the game only want those to contiune that EARN the right of passage, not borrow or steal it from others.

So if your here looking for answers… dont forget that your robbing yourself of the callenge to solve it… and taking the lazy way. If your here posting answers… give yourself and others a better chance of success by not posting the answers or hints.

I guess i’m just tired of working hard to get the answers only to find someone else is giving them away like candy.

Please dont make our efforts worthless.

I play a game called the treasure hunt on www.theproblemsite.com and i need clues, NOT ANSWERS to the riddles.

Also, I think i have a few right. My answer for riddle number one, Races and Wild Rides, was WAX. For the colored emotions puzzle, i got DISSAPOINTED. For the puzzle called Overly Verbose, I got 216 (for the number of words in the text). can anyone tell me if these are correct? thanks so much!

Can someone recommend a good comedy and/or thriller Korean or Taiwanese drama?

I am a big fan of Korean and Taiwanese drama. When I say drama, I mean multi-episode TV series and NOT two-hour movies.

Could someone recommend a good Korean, Taiwanese, or even Japanese drama is NOT romance or love oriented drama. In brief, I am looking for something that has the following characteristics:

It should be a comedy, or preferably a thriller drama (such as a police, investigation, adventure, treasure hunt, etc ….) or a comedy/thriller drama!
It should NOT evolve around a love story as a main theme, though there might be some romance in the show.
Preferably, it should not be a historic/period drama

One of my favorite dramas is “Evasive Enquiry Agency”. It is a Korean comedy/thriller about a group of individuals searching for a treasure. I am looking for something that has similar thematic elements.
