Who makes decisions on what public schools can buy ? Question Details: I am doing a paper on school safety and security. I am trying to find out how easy it is for schools to buy technology to protect the kids i.e metal detectors, XRay, keycard systems etc. Does the principal have a budget that he/she can spend in whatever way he pleases? Does he have to get large purchases approved by a school board ? How large is a large purchase? Any help would be much appreciated

Maybe some malls in other parts of the country have them, but they don’t up here where I am in the northeast. I was thinking that I’d feel more secure if there were metal detectors and a security guard at every entrance. What are some other ways to increase our safety in such busy shopping centers?

Many people agree with locker searches for the safety but what if the ‘reasonable suspision’ is from someone who hates you or has an agenda? Or if you have embarassing female products or contraceptives in there? It is the schools but it is yours while your there, we should feel okay about using them and not always looking over our shoulders to see who is looking in ot spy. I completely agree with scent dogs and metal detectors not with open lockers. How do you feel?

okay, im doing a project on school shootings, and if you guys can help and let me know what people have done since then to improve our schools id appreciate it. I know, they’ve put cameras and metal detectors in some schools, but what about schools who have no metal detectors, are they safe?
