I asked this question already but only got three answers. I know that just because you don’t have as much rights at schools doesn’t make all searches legal. To search personal items they have to have reason to believe you have something you shouldn’t(metal detectors detecting metal would be a good reason but that is not what happened). Lockers belong to school, not your purse an bookbags. When they searched us we were entering the door are things were not even in our lockers.
So what happened to me was a yearly metal detector search at our school(nobody knows the date each year though). When we entered the door we had to put our purses, bookbags, a zip up binders. At first I thought it was because of zippers, but it wasn’t because we could pass through with the zippers on our jackets. They searched every pocket inside and out of our purses, bookbags, and zip up binders. I didn’t have anything I shouldn’t have but I did have personal items(which I needed, some may know what I mean, so don’t tell me I should leave them at home). I felt like an invasion of my privacy. I was shaking uncontrollably because I had never had my things searched like that(that was my first full year at the school). Is there any laws that make this legal. In my opinion if there are they are stupid, because school shouldn’t mean you get your rights taken away.
