How could I tell if I struck a silver jackpot?

I believe I found silver-lead ore. Looks identical to this http://nevada-outback-gems.com/prospect/gold_specimen/silver_lead.jpg

I’m almost certain it is, but I need a sure way of finding out if i’m right. How would I do so?

does a metal detector detects pure silver and gold items such as rings?

I lost a silver ring in my backyard and i cant find it so i am gonna try to search for it with the metal detector my question is would i be able to detect the silver ring with the metal detector? or does metal detector only detects metal objects? thanks.
