Are there any good online resources for laws regarding treasure hunting?

Looking to get into wreck diving, but I had thought it would be best to brush up on artifact recovery laws before any serious diving. I realize that this can often change by state; I live in Texas but plan to be diving wherever I can. Any resources that include laws for wrecks in international waters would be much appreciated as well. Basically, I’m just trying to see what I can explore/salvage/recover without invoking the wrath of some insurance company, the federal government, or any other organization with a lawyer and a need for capital.

Much thanks,
JM

Your Easter Question: Is Corpus Christi, Texas the spot where one might FINALLY find Christ’s bones ?

“Corpus Christi” is Latin for “Body of Christ”.
Consider this possible scenario:
Having hidden the bones of Christ for a millennia to perpetuate the “Resurrection” myth, the Church decides to destroy the Knights Templar. In revenge, surviving Templar knights steal Christ’s skeleton from the Church, but being Christians themselves, cannot bring themselves to destroy it. Contracting with a visiting Viking ship, they arrange for Christ’s bones to be transported to a far-away land to be buried, a place later to be known as North America. The Vikings make landfall in what we now call “Texas”, and having neither concept of nor stake in Christianity, bury Christ’s skeleton and tell watching indigenous natives the name of the corpse. Centuries later, a visiting Spanish friar hears this remarkable story and decides to christen the place with the name, Corpus Christi, a name it carries to this very day. So it came to pass that Christ’s moldering bones lie within the soil of this Texas city, waiting, perhaps, for the day that some errant yet diligent Paleontologist may come along to discover them, and expose a two-millennia-old deception. Perhaps that Paleontologist could be YOU!

WHAT? You people spend hundreds of millions of dollars to view motion pictures like “National Treasure I and II” and “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, and yet you cannot accept even this rational hypothesis? For Shame.

Are there any places in Texas to treasure hunt?

I have been watching the Travel Channels show Cash and Treasure, and have yet to see them dig in Texas. I was wondering if anyone knew of any places in Texas that I could dig for treasure?

What’s the Fishing Forecast/Treasure hunting for Port Aransas Texas?

I’m going to be heading out there next week. To the beach and to go fishing, and metal detecting. What is being caught the most over there and where? Do you have any good spots being recommended. Any in rockport? I know giving up your fishing spot is like a magician telling how a magic trick is done. Are there any spanish maceral runs? I remember one year there was and we caught 15 of them. Just let me know.

Also is there any coin shops? Record Stores? or Have you found any Old money at the beaches? And where? I only know of the beach that runs at the end of the island. I dont know the name, all i know is the UT marine Science thing is there.

Let me know

Thanks, In Advance.

Adam

*Lastly do you know any good Places to eat? I know there is a Mexican resturant, and that’s mainly it.

found while metal detecting…?

my brother and i were at a lake in TEXAS . got a reading but had to move some rocks to get down to it. he tossed a rock, then another that hit the first rock, it split open and a fossil was inside. we were excited, so we moved other rocks, breaking them as we went. all told we found 5 fossils, each a little larger or smaller than the first. interesting thing is…one of these still had ‘body parts’ in it. what ever made the forms in the rocks still hadn’t disappeared. it was only 1/2 gone. the fossils are about 1/4″ wide x 11/8″x 1 5/8″ long. rounded at ea. end. we think it may be dung that survived all these millions of years it takes to form a fossil, but at least we’d know what ever made the dung (if that’s what it is) was eating all those years ago. for reasons unknown to me if you have any ideas as to what it might be, when i click on the answer (if any) i am unable to open the idea as to what it may be so i guess ya’ll know i found a fossil of some sort w/ parts of it still in it.
